During the show’s opening segment, SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon gathered Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Carmella (with James Ellsworth), Natalya and Tamina to unveil the briefcase to the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder match.
This brought out the SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi – who expressed her excitement for the upcoming ladder match despite not being able to participate. Lana would then make her debut, join the rest of the SmackDown Women’s division in the ring and echo her previous wishes of wanting to be a part of history by competing in the first-ever Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder match.
Lana would be ridicule for never having won a singles match but would begin to argue with Naomi for a shot at the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Shane would inform Lana that she needed to earn her opportunity which led to Lana storming out of the ring.
Despite her both of requests being denied, Lana would appear again to interfere during a six women tag match that pitted Naomi, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch against Natalya, Carmella and Tamina. Towards the end of the match, Lana would sweep Naomi from the ring apron, allowing for Tamina to take advantage and hit a Superkick for the win for her team.
