The match came about in the midst of an Ember Moon interview with the press to discuss winning the NXT Women’s Championship. Moon said winning the title at TakeOver: War Games was a dream come true and that her goal was to be the greatest NXT Women’s Champion in history.
She was then interrupted by the Iconic Duo Billie Kay and Peytone Royce who had a question of their own: Who did Ember Moon pin at TakeOver: War Games? Royce reminded Moon that she pinned Nikki Cross and thus, Royce deserves a chance to get her hands on Moon again.
The NXT Women’s Champion then posed a question of her own: Who will she face at next week’s episode of NXT? Despite some initial disagreement, the Iconic Duo agreed that Royce would take on Moon next week.

- RAW Superstar Sonya Deville defeated SmackDown Superstar Ruby Riott in a No Holds Barred match on tonight's NXT episode, in what may be the final NXT TV matches for the recent main roster call-ups. Below is video from the match:
Below is post-match video of Christy St. Cloud trying to interview Deville, asking if this is the end of her rivalry with Riott. Deville knocks St. Cloud for getting in her business and wonders if she has a life or anything better to do. Deville says she's on RAW now and the best part about that is not having to deal with St. Cloud's stupid little interviews.
