Original Plans For Asuka vs. Charlotte, Identity of Gladiators in Charlotte Flair’s WrestleMania Entrance

Original Plans For Asuka vs. Charlotte, Identity of Gladiators in Charlotte Flair’s WrestleMania Entrance
- The 3 men that were part of Charlotte Flair’s entrance were NXT wrestlers Tino Sabatelli, Riddick Moss and Dan Matha. It was an homage to when Flair was used as an extra for Triple H’s WrestleMania entrance a few years ago.

- The original plan was for Asuka to defeat Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania and remain undefeated so they could hype a mega-match with Ronda Rousey at next year’s show. That is also why they had Asuka doing the armbar during her matches around the time Rousey was signed.

On Monday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about Asuka’s loss and what she was told weeks ago before plans changed. “Originally, this match [at WrestleMania] was going to involve multiple armbar attempts.” He continued, “Asuka was told months ago, when Ronda Rousey first signed, to start doing the armbar all the time. And then she was told ‘no more armbars.'”

So, obviously WWE changed plans and they are no longer going to do a streak vs. streak match next year. Now, it looks like Charlotte Flair vs. Rousey will be the long-term plan.
