WWE Announces Asuka's First-Ever Match on SmackDown
- As noted, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, better known as The Ilconics, were recent guests on Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia. Billie Kay talked about an earlier time when the she and her tag team partner did not enjoy the chemistry they share today:
“We trained together at the same school. We went to the same high school. We had known each other. We had a little mini feud. We didn’t really like each other at first because we were the only two wrestling fans at our school, so we used to compete on who was the biggest fan. We used to see each other lining up to meet all the Superstars when they would come over to Australia. We really didn’t like each other at first. I was like, ‘She thinks she’s a bigger wrestling fan than me, oh sure her.’ We would line up for hours and hours meeting Rey Mysterio one time at a shopping center near us. She started training at the company I was at and as soon as we met we had this connection and this bond that is really indescribable. We became connected straight away.”
- Thanks to this week's Superstar Shake-Up, Asuka is now officially a member of the SmackDown roster. WWE announced her first match on the blue brand will be teaming up with Becky Lynch to face Peyton Royce and Billie Kay. Below is WWE's full announcement:
"One week after Asuka arrived on SmackDown LIVE as part of the Superstar Shake-up, The Empress of Tomorrow will make her official in-ring debut as a member of the blue brand when she teams up with Becky Lynch to battle The IIconics.
Asuka's stunning SmackDown arrival came this past Tuesday when she saved Becky and Charlotte Flair from a three-on-two beatdown at the hands of SmackDown Women's Champion Carmella and Billie Kay & Peyton Royce of The IIconics.

The duo of Kay & Royce has certainly been causing a stir since they debuted on SmackDown LIVE, particularly when they attacked Charlotte, which led to Carmella successfully cashing in her Money in the Bank contract. But will The IIconics be ready for Asuka?
