Shayna Baszler Retains The NXT Women’s Championship at NXT TakeOver: Chicago II
Shayna Baszler’s reign as NXT Women’s Championship continues after she successfully retained the title against Nikki Cross at NXT TakeOver: Chicago II.

Things started off with a stare down that proceeded with Cross toying with the NXT Women’s Champion, asking for her land the first strike. Baszler shoves Cross to the mat but Cross only asks for more.

After some more taunting, Cross ducks a forearm and climbs on Baszler’s back to wearing her down via Sleeper Hold. Baszler shoves Cross off and goes for the Kirifuda Clutch but Cross makes the quick separation by backing to a corner.

Baszler slips to the outside but Cross chases after the Champion. Cross dodges a kick from the apron and lands in some offense. Cross jumps back on Baszler’s back for another sleeper hold but tosses Cross to steel floor entrance ramp.

The Superstars makes their way back to the ring, where Baszler lands a knee shot to Cross following up with some grounded punches. Baszler tries to wear Cross down with a combination of submissions and knee shots strikes but Cross asks for some more.

Cross catches a knee and takes Baszler down back suplex. A fired up Cross lands forearms and lands kick at a corner. She earns a near three count after a cross body from the top turnbuckle. Cross takes the champion to the ring apron for a top rope reverse DDT. Cover but Baszler gets her left foot to the bottom rope for a rope break to break the pin.

Cross goes for Crucifix Pin but Baszler reverses and finally locks in the Kirifuda Clutch in the center of the ring. Cross reaches out to the ropes but then fades away causing the referee to stop the match and award Baszler the win.
