Some fans are bothered, or just flat out confused, as to why a man is involved in the all-female PPV. Per a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the reason for this is because – while WWE believes both Young and Phoenix are good announcers – the company didn’t want to put either woman in a position to not look strong while doing play-by-play.
Initially, it was being decided whether Cole or Mauro Ranallo would be performing play-by-play duties for the show. The decision was made to have Cole do the honors, with Phoenix and Young working color. Young even took to Twitter to comment on Cole’s involvement, and supported the decision:
“Yeah, just because it’s an all women’s PPV doesn’t mean we’re banning the men. We’re all celebrating the women’s achievements.
“And there have been men that have been a big help in the achievements that all of the women have made too. It’s a team effort. Equality = everyone”
