Reason Why Charlotte Was Booked to Destroy Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series

Charlotte Flair
The insane Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair match at WWE Survivor Series has led to speculation that plans are still in place for them to meet again at WrestleMania. Earlier this week, Dave Meltzer reported that the new plan was for Becky Lynch to take on Rousey at Mania but it certainly looks like a Triple Threat Match could be on the horizon.

On Monday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer talked about Vince McMahon’s mindset behind the beatdown and DQ finish. He noted how Flair has been cold since the storyline with Lynch and the feeling was that they needed to do something big for her to get a buzz for her.

“They wanted Charlotte really over,” Meltzer said. “Becky Lynch is already really over, Ronda Rousey is already really over. Charlotte was a little bit cold off of the Becky Lynch [feud]. This was to get her back going.”

He added, “What I do know is they wanted three super over women when this was over. This was about getting Charlotte over, not as a babyface. The match and the whole scenario was about getting Charlotte over to where she is very viable with Rousey.”

Meltzer previously noted that the original plan was Flair and Rousey at WrestleMania. Those plans changed during past week to Lynch vs. Rousey but it’s very possible that Vince McMahon has decided on Rousey vs. Flair vs. Lynch at Mania.

There’s still more than 4 months between now and Mania so there’s plenty of time for WWE to figure out what to do with all three women but the direction seems to be for a Triple Threat match.
