Asuka obliged and the two women attacked each other in brutal and aggressive fashion. As Asuka attempted a suplex on the outside of the ring, both women actually ended up hitting the ring floor face first with a sickening thud. Although it was close, both Asuka and Lynch returned to the ring before the count of ten.
The two proceeded to exchange slap after slap after slap. Asuka hit several violent kicks to Lynch’s upper body, but Lynch did not back down eventually capitalizing with a Super Bexploder from the top rope that WWE announcers described as having ‘spine shattering impact’.
Eventually Lynch and Asuka took turns putting one another in their respective finishers. Asuka fought her way out of the Disarm Her, but when Lynch found herself in the Asuka Lock, she ultimately tapped out.
- Ronda Rousey successfully defended the RAW Women’s Championship in a grueling contest against Sasha Banks at Royal Rumble. “The Boss” was a game challenger for “The Baddest Woman On The Planet”. countering early from Rousey’s armbar. After weeks of antagonizing Rousey on the microphone and in the ring, Banks was looking to prove on her words.
The match began as a back-and-forth battle with Rousey injury her arm early after striking the ring post. Banks would proceed to work on her left arm, softening up for a variety of arm submissions she has learned herself training for this opportunity. Rousey would battle back, locking in an armbar on the outside of the ring. The two would trade knee strikes between each other, in what looked to be Rousey’s toughest challenge to date.
Banks would try to make Rousey submit with the Banks Statement, but Rousey would counter with Piper’s Pit for the pinfall victory. As Rousey would celebrate the victory, Sasha would approach her to shake her hand. Before she would depart, however, Banks would raise her in the “Four Horsewomen” gesture, angering Rousey before she left.
