Lynch made her WWE debut on the June 26, 2014 episode of NXT and she defeated Summer Rae but that match almost didn’t happen. Lynch says the company was considering releasing her just two weeks before that match.
She wrote, "A couple of weeks before this they were going to let me go. I've been fighting to survive this place since before day one. I'll never be above what I had to do to stay alive."
It’s interesting because she had to be convinced to return to the wrestling business after suffering a head injury in 2006. Lynch was out of wrestling for six years before being signed to a WWE developmental deal in 2013. It’s quite possible that she would be out of the wrestling business right if WWE released her in early 2014.
