Massaro was part of a class action lawsuit against WWE that alleged that the company failed to protect employees from repeated head trauma and concussions.
Massaro said she was once knocked out cold for five minutes and later told to brush it off. She also said she was diagnosed with herniated discs in C4 and C5 of her vertebrae and she was dealing with numerous back injuries.
In an affidavit filed in 2017, she said, “Aside from my on-going physical injuries that were sustained in the ring, and my former battle with addiction, to this day I suffer from depression, for which I take medication; migraine headaches; and severe short-term memory loss.”
The story from The Blast notes that Massaro was working at a local radio station but failed to show up for work and that raised a red flag. She was discovered at her home on Thursday morning in Smithtown, New York.
